The Divisional Festival for Girls U15 and U18 was held at Frome RFC on Sunday 20th November.
The Cornwall U15s squad, who drew with Dorset/Wilts 2 weeks a ago, were in fighting form from the off. In total they played 6 matches and remained undefeated U15s SW Divisional Champions.
Their first match was a return against Dorset/Wilts which Cornwall won convincingly 27:0 (tries from Kaitlyn Bridge, Anoushka Gregorvich (2), Daisy Phillips and Ella Sanford with Chloe Stead (captain) converting one of them.
Match two was against Oxon which Cornwall won 12:7 (tries Shannon Hocking, Michaella Roberts, conversion, Chloe Stead).
Match three was a 10:0 win against Somerset (tries Anoushka Gregorvich, Tallulah Murphy).
Match four saw another 10:0 win against Gloucestershire with two tries by Tallulah Murphy.
Match five was a successful 5:0 win against local rivals Devon try being scored by Ella Sanford.
The final match was the team's only draw at 5:5 against Berkshire the try being scored by Kaitlyn Bridge.
Huge congratulations must go to the whole squad and their coach Dave Roberts and manager Sarah Kneale. Head coach Andy Demaine was unable to be there on the day, but is very proud of everyone.
The Under 18s Cornwall Squad was depleted by injury, but 6 girls travelled to Frome to join with a similarly delpeted side from Oxford and Bucks. Once again, the girls from these teams showed great spirit in joining together to enable all the girls to play. Congratulations to Emma Thomas, Aimee Vian, Cassie Walker, Laura McLuckie, Cora Park and Stephanie Serren; and thanks to Lauren Chenoweth who, being injured, helped to manage the team.
Their first match against Dorset/Wilts resulted in a much closer score than a fortnight ago losing only 15:12. In their second match the girls had a resounding win against Somerset of 38:0. In the final play-off against Gloucestershire they narrowly lost 17:15 making the combined team in 4th position.
The Junior County season now being over, coaches will nominate girls from both age groups to take place in SW Divisional Trials in January. Trials will include girls from all 8 counties.
